We are quickly approaching a point where the door on repentance from dead works is closing. Mind you, I am not referring to repentance from sin, towards faith in God resulting in salvation by grace, but those things that are displeasing to God.
Dead works include the following things-
- Believing that God doesn’t see, doesn’t hear: believing we can do what we want with impunity.
- Failing stand for righteousness.
- Abandoning the fatherless: the murder of the innocent.
- Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute. (Ps. 82:3)
Choose you this day
A division is quickly coming and the lines are being drawn. A day is coming where there will no longer be a place for those who would ride the middle of the fence or give comfort and aid to the enemies of righteousness.
But if it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served, which were beyond the Euphrates River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. (Joshua 24:15)
This is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says: ‘Behold, I am going to bring on this city and all its towns the entire disaster that I have declared against it, because they have stiffened their necks so as not to listen to My words.’ (Jeremiah 19:15)
